As part of our mission to preserve the history and culture of Boston’s West End, we are committed to documenting stories of the Old West End as told by the people who lived there. This is an ongoing project through which Videos, Audio Recordings and Written Accounts will be posted on a continuing basis.
Our goal is to collect and share as many stories as possible that chronicle personal accounts of this vibrant melting pot of a community for current and future generations to discover and appreciate. Sharing these unique and precious remembrances will ensure that the true story of “the greatest neighborhood this side of heaven” is never forgotten.
If you’re an old West Ender or a descendant, learn how to share your story.
Click on the links below to view the individual videos, and be sure to check back here periodically for new ones.

In 2014, the Mass. Memories Road Show—a project of UMass Boston—compiled videos and photographs from former West Enders through an event we hosted at the Museum. Read about that and see more West End stories.
