Q&A with School Committee member Adam Weldai
Adam Weldai is currently on the Malden School Committee out of Ward 5. He is seeking a Councilor At-Large seat in the upcoming Malden elections. He’d like one of your three votes when you enter that booth. Adam is as committed a Maldonian as I have ever seen, truly somebody who fights the “good fight.” State Sen. Jason Lewis, state Rep. Steve Ultrino and state Rep. Paul Brodeur are holding a “Summer Reception” for Adam to help raise funds for his campaign on Wednesday, July 1, at the Dockside Riverview. Malden Musings had five questions for Adam:
Peter Levine: Growing up in Malden, what was your favorite restaurant/sub shop/pizza joint?
Adam Weldaid: I have so many memories of summer days growing up on Bainbridge Street and walking down to Steve’s Roast Beef (when it was at the old location on Salem Street, next to Essex Farms). I’d get a cheeseburger with ketchup and mayonnaise and split fries with the friends I’d walk down with…I don’t think I’d order that now, though! Of course, as we got older and ventured out of the neighborhood, Pisa Pizza was an all time favorite and New York Pizza in Malden Square, too. Nothing beats the old Converse Restaurant in Malden Square, though – everything they made was amazing! We used to head over there during open campus lunch at the high school.
