The West End Museum is Boston’s only neighborhood museum, dedicated to the collection, preservation and interpretation of the history and culture of the West End of Boston, a largely immigrant neighborhood displaced or destroyed by Urban Renewal that saw a third of Boston’s downtown demolished between 1958 and 1960. The Museum features the history of diverse community that produced numerous influential and accomplished people, boasts a unique culture, and has many places of historical significance. The West End Museum fulfills its mission by providing exhibits to the public on a regular basis, by providing access to its collections for research and a resource to the West End Neighborhood for historical and cultural interests.
