The West End Museum advocates for responsible planning & development and elevating community voices through it’s own work and in support of its partners. Today we work almost exclusively in the West End, but we are considering branching out to do so for other communities in Boston and elsewhere. If you think WEM’s voice could make a difference for your neighborhood, please feel free to reach out to sebastian@thewestendmuseum.org.
Advocacy
How WEM Advocates
Speaking Out
Museum staff give testimony at City Council hearings and maintain communication with elected officials to ensure that the needs of our community are understood and can be properly addressed.
Tracking Issues
We keep an eye on the status of dozens of proposed, approved, and under-construction projects to make sure they are in our communities best interest and live up to their obligations.
Writing Letters
Museum staff write letters in support and opposition to development projects, planning programs, and other issues facing the communities we serve. Most of these letters are part of the public record.
Serving on IAGs
Our Executive Director sits on multiple Impact Advisory Groups, making sure the legacy of the lost West End is respected and that the legacies of modern projects are of benefit to our community.
