Boston’s nightlife jolted in $300K grant awarded to ‘Wake Up the Night’

It’s been Laura Charles’ dream to host a haunted circus for Halloween in her multi-use Roslindale venue since opening in 2022.

“There’ll be multiple circus performers – aerialist, like, or silk or trapeze,” the co-owner of Substation told MassLive on Friday. She’s envisioned stilt-walkers and contortionists sprinkled across a crowd of costumed onlookers, who’d all end the night in a big dance party.
