The West End Museum is Reopening

On May 23rd, 2024, The West End Museum will formally reopen to the public! This moment has been a long time coming, since a catastrophic flood in January 2022, and we are extremely excited to welcome everyone back into our galleries. 

The Museum will reopen featuring our new permanent exhibit: Rise, Fall, Rebirth: Stories of the West End.

The new permanent exhibition will have seven modules, consisting of interpretive panels, videos, interactive digital materials, and artifacts. They will span the full history of the West End, taking you from fields to neighborhood; telling the story of its residents; explaining how it became mischaracterized by outsiders; detailing its destruction; and then following its rebirth – both as a modern community and as an identity held proudly by displaced persons.

About the West End Museum: The West End Museum is dedicated to telling the story of Boston’s West End neighborhood. The Museum provides a space for past and present residents and the community; educates the public in history and urbanization; and preserves its material history and culture. The Museum seeks to challenge citizens to take an active role in shaping their communities.

Admission: At the West End museum, we believe in making community and history accessible to everyone. While the standard admission rates are $12 for adults and discounted rates are available for children, veterans, seniors, and students, we operate on a pay-what-you-can basis to ensure affordability for all visitors. Members enjoy discounted admission at all times. If our standard rates are not feasible for you, please inform our friendly staff at the front desk, and we will accommodate alternative pricing options for your admission tickets.
